Brevel raises US$5M Seed extension to accelerate go-to-market strategy and develop microalgae protein

What does Brevel do?

Brevel is a climate food-tech company based in Kiryat Gat, Israel, that develops microalgae proteins using a patented fermentation process which harnesses light to cultivate microalgae into a concentrated, highly nutritious whole-protein powder for food and beverage applications.

How much did they raise?

The company secured over US$5M in a Seed funding round with participation from NevaTeam Partners, Siddhi Capital, the EU’s EIC Fund, Good Protein Fund, The Food Tech Lab, and PVS Investments. This raise contributed to a total of US$25M invested in the round.

What are their plans for the money?

Brevel plans to use the proceeds to accelerate its go-to-market strategy and further develop microalgae proteins tailored for multiple food and beverage applications. The expansion, including a 27,000 square foot facility capable of producing hundreds of tons of protein powder annually, is expected to significantly impact the global alternative protein market.

What have they achieved so far?

The company has already marked significant milestones including the completion of its commercial factory (FOAK), scaling its technology to a commercial production volume of 5,000L, securing a joint-development agreement with The Central Bottling Company, and advancing its protein and polar lipid ingredient processes.
